A number of the terrific songs on John’s new album, “The Man Who came in from the Dark” were not only inspired by Cork but also written here. John’s newly released single “The Voyage of the Sirius” celebrates the first crossing of the Atlantic by steamship; The S.S. SIRIUS out of Passage West to New York, April 1838.
“The English Market Christmas Song”, is a song that was requested from John by the traders from Cork's famous English Market.
On “Princess’s Street/Follow Your Nose”, John is joined by novelist and playwright Conal Creedon who reads a piece from his play THE CURE over one of John's best loved songs “Princes Street”. This piece has already attained great popularity since it was first performed live on Cork's 96fm a number of years ago, and it's release has been eagerly awaited for some time.
“River Lee” is a song that is close to home to The Mills as celebrates the journey of the Lee from it's source at Gougane Barra to the sea. Listening to song we can clearly see all the beautiful local scenery as it is described. A really majestic and special song.
