The 4th World Feeder Fishing Championships Tuesday, July 08, 2014 The Mills Inn Hotel, Ballyvourney has a reputation of being a haven for fishing enthusiasts and a place where beginners can fall in love with the pastime for the first time. Our very own Don O’Leary is an avid fly fisherman with vast experience and success in a number of major international competitions. On many nights, Don can be found sitting in our Traditional Irish Pub captivating our fishing guests with stories of fantastic fishing adventures in hidden places of spectacular beauty, found just a short trip from The Mills Inn Hotel. Don always loves to speak to fellow fishing enthusiasts and pass on his knowledge of the best fishing spots in Cork and Kerry to anyone who will listen. Why not ask him sometime you visit us for a night or simply to enjoy the delicious food we have on offer in our restaurant. You may even stumble across him on the bank of a river or on the edge of a lake shore, basking in a moment of fishing magic… when he should be working we might add! The joy and peacefulness that can be felt from a day of fishing is something we wish all our guests would experience. There is no better place than the southwest of Ireland to do so. The southwest of Ireland is rich in idyllic rivers and tranquil lakes, that are perfect fishing spots for people of all different experiences. We believe Ireland’s waterways are some of the most beautiful in the world and offer some of the greatest fishing you can find anywhere. We are delighted with the announcement that the 4th World Feeder Fishing Championships will be hosted on Inniscarra Reservoir near the village of Coachford, Co Cork on the 19th and 20th July 2014. The event is being organised by The National Coarse Fishing Federation of Ireland (NCFFI) and is sure to be an exciting competition. There is a huge variety of fish species lurking below the surface that the competitors will have to use all their skills and knowledge to catch. Some of the fish include; Bream ranging from 1kg plus; skimmers, hybrids, roach, rudd , tench, carp, eels, perch, brown trout, pike, and gudgeon. Inniscarra Lake is a multi-purpose amenity for everyone to enjoy, providing rowing, cycling, fishing and walking for all. There has been a new amenity walk developed which brings a fresh perspective to the reservoir so it can be enjoyed by everyone. This new development has created a fisherman’s paradise, as it provides a number of slipways and access points to the water, making the Inniscarra reservoir the ideal spot for the championships. For all those passionate about fishing or curious about it, we would urge you to pop down to Coachford on the 19th-20th July to be apart of a wonderful weekend of fishing and witness expert fishermen in action. For people with a true love for the sport it is poetry in motion. With the new amenity walkway, it is sure to be a brilliant family day out too, so why not bring the whole family along to be apart of it.Afterwards why not call into us to tell us about the day. We would love to hear all about the event and share some of our own fishing stories as well. For anyone looking for overnight accommodation, we always have a room for traveling fisherman or two.
